Executive Director Job Description
Purpose
To provide executive vision and leadership to the Chamber in the fulfillment of its mission and develop strategies towards a successful and financially stable future.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Board Chair to prepare agendas and materials for Board meetings.
- Identify and recommend solutions to the Board that support the vision and mission of the organization.
- Represent the Chamber at community forums, city council meetings, and events such as legislative, tourism summits, and numerous fundraisers.
- Promote and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, business owners, and community leaders.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data needed to make critical decisions in a timely manner. Maintain strong written and verbal communication to include newsletter production, communication to staff, Chamber members, and the general public, as well as write and deliver articles/presentations for community events, business forums, meetings, and seminars.
- Build partnerships with other organizations to include, but not exclusive to sponsorship acquirement, program development and participation.
- Oversee programs to include monthly breakfasts, workshops, fundraisers, and events as directed by the Board of Directors.
- Recruit speakers for monthly breakfasts, workshops, and other events or programs.
- Recruit and develop committee chairs, committee members, and volunteers.
Accountabilities
- Operate within and advance the policies of the Chamber.
- Day-to-day operations, including staffing, management of programs, membership, and marketing efforts.
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors create, prepare, and expend comprehensive strategic direction, business plans, annual budgets, and marketing strategies.
- Provide effective leadership, mentoring and coaching to staff, board members, and business owners.
- Assure that organization priorities are responsive to member needs and serves to advance Hayden’s economic development.
- Maintain open communication with the Board, work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber bylaws; and bringing issues to the Board in a timely fashion.
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors, secure all funds to operate the organization through dues, donations, sponsorships, and grants.

- Attraction and retention of members, member feedback.
Minimum Experience
- Three years of responsible business or trade association management
- Supervisory experience
- Five years of P & L responsibilities
- Public speaking, public relations/media partnerships a plus
- Successful fundraising/sales activities
Minimum Skills
- Management skills to include people, financial, projects, and events
- Communication skills to include verbal, written, listening skills, ability to present and persuade
- Problem-solving skills
- Technology literate
This is a salaried PT position based on an average of 25 hours per week with a flexible work schedule.
Chamber Office Hours are:
Tues-Fri. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
(Mon-Fri 11 a.m.-4 p.m. during the summer)
with a staff person available for shared office coverage.
